Abstract : Leadership has received a great deal of attention in the academic literature regarding leadership styles, theories, skills, and leader’s characteristics. Hardly ever leadership of children’s standpoint is investigated compared to adults. This research will explored in details how leadership can be introduced to kindergarten children. The research objectives are to provide a listing of some leadership behavioral skills for embedding within the kindergarten curriculum by revealing the leadership behavioral skills that are integrated in the National Self-learning curriculum for kindergarteners in Saudi Arabia. Correspondingly, identifying the appropriate teaching methods for leadership behavioral skills, and proposing a conception for embedding leadership behavioral skills within the kindergarten curriculum. The research questions were answered by applying both descriptive and analytical methods. The population consists of public kindergarten teachers at Makkah city (233 teachers), and the self-learning curriculum for kindergarten that is composed of (7 volumes) that is affiliated by the Ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia. The sample is (46) teachers (19.74%), and two volumes of the curriculum (28%). The research tools are: a questionnaire for the kindergarten teachers to analyze their opinions regarding embedding the most appropriate leadership behavioral skills within the kindergarten curriculum and teaching methods, and an outline for content analysis of the National Self-learning curriculum to investigate the amount of leadership behavioral skills that are integrated within the curriculum . The research results provide a listing of leadership behavioral skills that can be embedded properly within the kindergarten curriculum which are: decision-making, taking the initiative, effective communication, consultation, taking responsibility, perseverance, understanding emotions, empathy, and argument settlement, problem solving, and teamwork. Also the study verified that the Self-learning curriculum has integrated the education of leadership behavioral skills in direct way (within the educational objectives), and indirect way (without stating within the educational objectives) but there is no emphasis on leadership skills in content and teaching methods. Moreover the study provides a list of appropriate teaching methods for leadership behavioral skills based on research analysis and teachers’ opinions. The methods cover: role playing, modeling, brainstorming, story, dialogue and debate, educational games, problem solving, voting, direct experience, and cooperative learning. Finally the study concluded with a proposed conception for embedding leadership behavioral skills within the kindergarten curriculum that contains: objectives, content, teaching methods, instructions for the teacher, partnership with parents, the physical learning environment, and evaluation. The most important recommendations of the research are as follows: Teaching the leadership behavioral skills intentionally and systematically within the objectives of the kindergarten curriculum, and assuring that leadership behavioral skills are integrated within the curriculum besides taking into consideration the requirements for implementation of the proposed conception of the leadership behavioral skills in the pre-service and in-service training for kindergarten teachers. Also, considering the participation of leadership specialists in curriculum design, and considering the role of the media in supporting introduction of leadership behavioral skills to kindergarten children.
