Abstract : Osailan, Hala Yousef (1427.H - 2006 A.D) "The usage of optical illusion phenomenon to modernize tapestries designs by computers", Master degree \Under the supervision of Professor: Abla Gamal Eddin Tawfique \Number of pages (420) The degree aims at creating new Tapestries hangings in a new and creative way. This is based on artistic and techniques of some artistic schools and also on new attitudes, such as; optical illusion, where it depends on structuralism of colour elements, the shape, the colour. Hence, if we process these designs by modern computerized programmes, this will enrich the optical side in design, in its touch especially, so we can apply them in Tapestries. To apply these scientific results, specific curriculum should be followed as: 1. The experimental curriculum 2. The historical curriculum The degree answers the following enquiries 1. How do we make use of the optical illusion phenomenon, and some modern artistic schools in making creative designs for the Tapestries hangings? 2. How do we modernize the applied method of the Tapestries and taking it out of its stereo-typed shape? 3. How do we make use of the modern techniques as in “computer” and many different materials which enrich the tissue surface? The importance of the study can be summarized in 1. We study the optical illusion phenomenon as a modern artistic attitude, based on scientific and functional ways, and promoting the designer’s 2. abilities in both senses and thinking. So we can achieve original and artistic values in design. 3. In the study and analysis of tissue applied modernized methods in experimental manner, we can find different solutions for making optical illusion regarding materials and colours. 4. The usage of “Photoshop” programme helps a lot in affecting creatively on design in a short time and little hard work for experimental solution helps to choose what achieves the illusive side so it can be used in applied types of the Tapestries. The study depends on the experimental curriculum in different phases, and the results are: 1. Making of creative designing solutions, after studying of the optical illusion phenomenon as a visible phenomenon depends in its concept on hidden dynamic power of the elements of design. There are 10 creative designs, 4 of them are painted in water colours. 2. After studying of colour effective thinking, the study combined between the styles of illusive colours and the style of un-stretched conjunction in Tapestries, 12 styles are experimented as modern applied styles. Each style has four illusive types in colour, touch, illusion of difference and technique, so we can apply these modern applied styles on modern works of effective artists in style of Tapestries. The coloured designs have been derived into computer, and reached to (6-8) options for each design 12 styles are experimented as modern applied styles.
