Vice-dean's Letter

‏Vice-dean's Letter : ‬

With the support of the university, the university president, and the dean of the women's campus, the departments of Home Economics have become a faculty in its own right under the decree dated 22/2/1435, after thirty-four years of work that began in 1401 as part of the Faculty of Economics and Administration.

The majors offered by the faculty include childhood studies, food and nutrition, housing (which includes two programs: housing and institutions, and interior decoration and furniture), clothing and textiles, and family science.

These majors serve the community as a whole in matters of health and education, as well as basic needs like nutrition, clothing, and housing. Our disciplines contribute to the formation of the community and are based on developing knowledge in the field of specialty and all other related fields. Hence, the majors offered by the faculty align with the mission of King Abdulaziz University: A minaret of knowledge, a fully-integrated entity, and a pioneer in development.

Our graduate program offers masters degrees in childhood studies, food and nutrition, clothing and textiles, and educational home economics, as well as a recently-approved doctoral program in clothing and textile in which enrollment begins next year.
