Overview :
-Home Economics was unveiled in the first term 1401 AH with one section for home economics under the Faculty of economics and administration.
-This section was officially resolved to be the Home Economics Department by the KAU's Council in 1403 AH as held on 02/04/1403 AH corresponding to 16/01/1982 as per Resolution no. (1) "Item Two" pertaining the prescription of Educational Home Economics at the Women's Division.
-The General Conference for Home Economics was held in 1402 in Saudi Arabia, which finally resoled five departments to be founded under Home Economics. These are:
-Educational Home Economics.
-Family and Child's Growth.
-Housing and Home Management.
-
Food and Nutrition.
-Clothes and Textile.
-The six departments were then separated from the Faculty of Economics and Administration In 1403 AH corresponding to 1983. the Department of Educational
Islamic Arts was founded as well during the same year. The courses of this Department had been previously taught as merely assistant courses at the other departments.
-Family and Child's Growth department later became the
Childhood Studies Department in 1412 AH corresponding to 1991.
-The developed plan was approved in 1427/1428 AH, to be then implemented at the beginning of the first term 1427/1428 AH.
-Finally, Home Economics departments became the Faculty of Home Economics by Resolution no. 3198, in 22/2l1435 AH.
